Case 1: Thermal power plant energy efficiency
Medium-large size company specialized in the production of feed for aquaculture
TARGET
Reduce the consumption of methane and electricity by replacing the diathermic oil generator with a modern water steam generator.
OPERATION
Installation of a water steam generator, dimensioned on the real needs and equipped with an economizer for the recovery of heat on the fumes and the preheating of the combustion air.
BENEFITS
The intervention saved 120,000 Sm3 / year of methane, corresponding to around € 40,000 / year, and € 5,000 / year of electricity. Furthermore, 87 TEEs / year were obtained. The initial investment was € 130,000.
Case 2: Heat recovery on dryers
Medium-large size company specialized in the production of feed for aquaculture
TARGET
Take advantage of the thermal energy made available by the water leaving the cogeneration unit to preheat the air entering the dryer, thus reducing the consumption of methane gas.
OPERATION
Design of air / water heat exchangers to be placed above the dryer, respecting the following operating parameters: water and air inlet temperatures, available water flow and air flow.
BENEFITS
Case 3: Electrical system efficiency
Company specialized in the production of pasta
TARGET
Eliminate the penalties imposed by the distributor and reduce transport losses by installing a power factor correction system.
OPERATION
Distributed power factor correction of each load by connecting a capacitor bank. In this way, both the reactive power required by the supply network, the currents present in the distribution system and consequently also the losses and voltage drops are reduced.
BENEFITS
The initial investment was € 9,000. The intervention made it possible to completely eliminate the penalties from the distributor and save about 3% of electricity.
